JaydLivePowerPoint plugin

Run JaydLive from inside PowerPoint

The JaydLive plugin adds a pane to PowerPoint: connect with your event code, launch polls, and drop QR and results slides into the deck without ever switching apps. It is installed per machine in about two minutes โ€” no Microsoft store, no IT ticket.

Step 1 โ€” Download the PowerPoint plugin

One small helper file per computer does the whole setup for you โ€” no settings menus, no manifest wrangling.

Get the PowerPoint plugin

Or download it directly: JaydLive-Setup.bat (Windows) ยท Install-JaydLive-Mac.command (Mac)

Step 2 โ€” Run it, then open PowerPoint

On Windows:

  1. Double-click JaydLive-Setup.bat. If a blue box says "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway โ€” a one-time prompt that shows until the plugin is officially signed at launch.
  2. When the setup window says DONE, close PowerPoint completely, then open it again.
  3. Click Insert โ†’ Add-ins โ†’ My Add-ins, open the Developer Add-ins section, then JaydLive for PowerPoint โ†’ Add. The pane opens on the right.

On a Mac:

  1. Double-click Install-JaydLive-Mac.command. If macOS will not open it because it is from an unidentified developer, right-click the file โ†’ Open โ†’ Open โ€” also a one-time prompt.
  2. When the setup window says DONE, quit PowerPoint completely (Cmd+Q), then open it again.
  3. Click Insert โ†’ Add-ins โ†’ My Add-ins, then JaydLive for PowerPoint โ†’ Add. The pane opens on the right.

Then type your event code in the pane (try DEMO) โ€” Step 3 is about presenting with it.

Step 3 โ€” present

In the pane, type your event code (try DEMO), pick the session you're presenting, and launch polls as you reach them. Insert QR slide drops the join code on a slide; Insert results slide drops a picture of the current results.

Poll slides that run themselves: in the pane's In-room programming section, pick a poll and hit Insert poll slide (or Insert all poll slides) to add a slide bound to that poll โ€” question, choices, and a live results area. Leave Show sync on in the pane and the slideshow itself opens each poll as you advance onto its slide and closes it as you move past; phones, the big screen, and the moderator page follow automatically. The pane never launches polls itself โ€” the slide is the switch โ€” and the Moderator Console on the website stays as the manual override.

Surveys: a survey groups several polls so attendees answer them together, in order. Surveys are built on the Polls Programming page, and you can launch and close them right from the pane's Surveys section โ€” launching a survey opens all of its questions at once, and closing it closes them all.

Notes: the pane needs internet (it talks to the same live JaydLive site). Slides you insert are pictures โ€” they don't keep updating; insert a fresh one whenever you want the latest numbers.

Manual setup (advanced โ€” for technical users only)

Presenters: use the plugin in Steps 1โ€“2 โ€” it does all of this automatically. The manual route below installs the same add-in by hand from its manifest file, and is only a fallback for technical users who cannot run the helper files.

Download manifest.xml

Easiest โ€” PowerPoint on the web:

  1. Go to office.com, sign in, and open or create a presentation.
  2. Click Insert โ†’ Add-ins โ†’ My Add-ins.
  3. Choose Upload My Add-in and pick the manifest.xml you downloaded.
  4. The JaydLive pane opens. On the desktop app it also adds an Open JaydLive button to the Home tab.

On a Mac (desktop app):

  1. Put manifest.xml in this folder:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Powerpoint/Data/Documents/wef/
  2. Restart PowerPoint, then Insert โ†’ Add-ins and choose JaydLive for PowerPoint.

On Windows (desktop app):

  1. Put manifest.xml in a folder of its own and share that folder (right-click โ†’ Properties โ†’ Sharing โ†’ Share).
  2. In PowerPoint: File โ†’ Options โ†’ Trust Center โ†’ Trust Center Settings โ†’ Trusted Add-in Catalogs.
  3. Add the folder's network path (like \\YOUR-PC\jaydlive-addin), tick Show in Menu, click OK, and restart PowerPoint.
  4. Then Insert โ†’ Add-ins โ†’ My Add-ins โ†’ Shared Folder and pick JaydLive for PowerPoint.

Removing the plugin on Windows? Download and run JaydLive-Uninstall.bat โ€” it undoes the settings from both install routes.
